Missing connections

I'm searching for someone
to run away with
Who would be willing
to let go
Of everything but my hand
Who would be willing
to go with me
into the unknown
into the wilderness

And we will stand
Together
But on our own
Sometimes holding each other
Sometimes not

Someone
Who would be willing
to be small with me
and let me be big
Just like I am

Someone
Who would be willing
to be big with me
and let me be small
Just like I am

Be the cavalry

Few things inspire me more than people who say fuck it to the system, refuse to stand in line, and wait for their turn.  We have to create work and art for ourselves. Our voices are unique and important. And we can do it both for ourselves and for our fellow artists. The title of this post is a quote from Jay Duplass, where he shares his thoughts on how to keep making art even though no one is willing to invest in your vision, be it financially or emotionally. In these times, give of yourself with great generosity, but also protect yourself so that you also get something back. Be specific in your wishes. Say Yes, And to the roles, projects, auditions that come your way, if they tickle you and your artistic journey. Take the jobs that come your way, the commercial, the dayplayer, the one-liner, but create that lead role for yourself, or that poetry that is stuck inside your chest. Create. The world needs you.

"A flower grows and though nobody asked it to.
A bluebird sings and won't let herself go out of tune"
